Hampshire Collection is a children’s book self-publishing company: writing, creating and publishing unique and exciting stories for children.

Hampshire Collection published it’s first book ‘Bounce’ written by Bronwen Hampshire and illustrated by Maxzene Morgan. It was written, printed and launched in South Africa on 27 November 2021.

‘Bounce’ is Bronwen Hampshire’s long-cherished dream about a bunny rabbit with an extra long ear who embraces being different and is one-of-a-kind. The story invites readers to join Bounce the Bunny during his adventures around Dewbridge Canyon as he discovers the true values of friendship and having a kind heart with a great moral in the story.

Bounce has been translated into two additional South African languages , isiZulu published in July 2022 and Afrikaans due to be published in late 2022. With a passion for books, stories and South Africa Bronwen’s goal to ‘accomplish something great’ is starting small but she works towards the motto ‘DREAM BIG’.

Literacy is an integral part of education, it empowers individuals, improves livelihoods, enables greater participation in society and the labour market, benefits child and family health and nutrition, and reduces poverty.

HOP

‘Hop’ is the name of the Afrikaans book which has been translated by Hilde-Mari Strydom.

Afrikaans is the third most spoken language in South Africa that evolved from Dutch, spoken by the European settlers during the 18th Century.

UQUASHA

Ntobeko Mlangeni translated the story ‘Bounce’ into isiZulu with the title ‘uQhasha’.

isiZulu is one of South Africa’s 11 official languages and is the most widely spoken home language in South Africa and was not a written language until 1850.

2022 & BEYOND

Bronwen, Ntobeko & Hilde-Mari look forward to bringing new, original stories in English, isiZulu and Afrikaans to South African children that include a glossary and conversation questions in each book to help understanding the story and promoting literacy.
